At the Center

The 826 New Orleans Youth Writing Center is a hub of creativity and collaboration.

Our After School program helps 30 1st-5th graders develop the critical literacy skills necessary for future success. After School is held Monday-Thursday, with each student attending twice a week throughout the duration of the school year.

Workshops

826 New Orleans workshops are explorations of different writing genres and themes. Offered on the evenings and weekends at our writing center, workshops give approximately 300 students in grades 1-12 the opportunity to explore their interests and hone in on a technical craft. Examples of previous workshops range from college entrance essay writing to food critique writing.

Young Writers’ Council

Young Writers’ Council is a dynamic group of high school students who identify as emerging writers and changemakers who work on creative 826 New Orleans projects.
